International: Gulf News, a Dubai-based newspaper in the United Arab Emirates, has included Siem Reap and Cambodia’s Angkor Wat among the top 15 tourist destinations in the ASEAN region.

Gulf News wrote in its article that the awe-inspiring Angkor Wat in Siem Reap is a must-see tourist destination, along with the spectacular sunrise over Angkor Wat.

Meanwhile, Siem Reap’s lively nightlife and entertainment scene make it a top tourist destination in the ASEAN region.

According to the report, a total of 527,577 foreigners from 171 countries and regions visited the Angkor sites in the first five months of 2025, generating a total of US$24.5 million in ticket sales.

Located northwest of Siem Reap, the 401-square-kilometer Angkor site was inscribed on the World Heritage List by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992.

This World Heritage Site contains 91 ancient temples built from the 9th to the 13th centuries. It is currently the most popular tourist destination in Cambodia.

Other top tourist destinations reported by Gulf News include George Town on the Malaysian island of Penang, Palawan in the Philippines, Bali in Indonesia, Singapore and Ha Long Bay in Vietnam.
